current: Jumper [10/100]

This is the second really bad movie in a row I've seen Hayden Chistensen in [Awake was worse], doesn't the guy have an agent? An editor? And director Doug Limon burst onto the scene in the 1990s with Swingers and Go, and did fine work on the first Bourne movie. Mr. and Mrs. Smith had its moments, but Jumper has nothing going for it, even the visual effects are boring. It's not creepy-bad like Awake was, just bland-bad, like generic cereal. Samuel L. Jackson and Diane Lane are wasted, and the concept of moralistic do-gooders chasing and killing jumpers because they're having too much fun with no consequences... The adolescent anxieties hanging over this dreadful script, missing parents, bullies at school, girlfriend who doesn't understand, make it impossible to enjoy Jumper even as a popcorn movie, one transparently interested in setting up the sequel/franchise. Just say no to Jumper, before it's too late!
